Bearington Bears

Follow the trail through a gap in the stone wall and you’ll see the whole community spread out before you. On the right, tall ships rock at moorings on the river front. A little inland, the neighborhoods of Central Paw and Bearington Hollow stand out from the green of the countryside. In the distance, you see the Wild Woods and the Enchanted Forest. If you were to follow that trail down to Central Paw, into the fairytale world of the Bearington characters, it’s doubtful you would ever come back.

Bearingtonville was founded in 1997 when Bearington Collection, a family owned and operated business was born. Since then, hundreds of bears have come from Bearingtonville and into the homes of teddy bear collectors all over the world. Bearington bears are very special teddy bears – they are charmingly and intricately detailed, and each comes with a name and a personality. Each comes from a life in Bearingtonville where he or she had special friends and adventures.

Many of the Bearington bears have been nominated for awards and quite a few have won over the years. In 2006, four Bearington creations won TOBY (teddy bear of the year) Industry Choice Awards, and two won TOBY Public Choice awards. They join winners from the Bearington collection from every year since 2001 – bears whose awards make them prized collector’s items.

Award winning Bearington bears are an obvious choice for collectors, but there are many other bears that are desirable as well – every year a few bears are designated “limited edition,” some have been limited to as few as 500. Other designs from the Bearington Collection are retired each year, so that they, too, are desirable pieces that become more valuable as they become more difficult to obtain.

Bearington Bears come dressed for many special occasions: Mr. Bear Jingles is ready for Christmas, Duke McSpook is dressed for trick-or-treat at Hallowe’en, and Candi Heart would melt the heartstrings of any valentine. The delightful unique Bearington bears form the majority of the population of Bearingtonville, but don’t be surprised if you come upon other types of animals there. There are more than a few rabbits, as well as a lion, a moose, farm animals, wildlife, even a grasshopper! All of them showcase the great craftsmanship and endearing personalities that set the Bearington Collection apart.

Considering their nearly universal appeal, Bearington bears are surprisingly affordable. New fourteen inch bears retail for less than $30US and smaller items can be purchased for $10 to $12. Relatively low prices make it easy to build a large Bearington collection of your own – and you can do it without even leaving home. Just browse and shop on the internet.
