Corolle Dolls
Corolle Dolls have won over 30 play excellence and design distinction awards at an international level and are sold in more then 22 countries around the world. It is no wonder that they capture the imagination of not only today's little girls, but their mothers as well. Any woman who received one as a gift when they were little remembers the magic these exquisite dolls brought into their childhood.
Making their debut in 1978, the collection of Corolle Dolls was originally made in France from the designs of artist Catherine Refabert. In fact, the name means "the inside of a flower" in French. Since 2004 they have been manufactured in Europe and Asia, but the romantic quality remains the same.
Corolle Dolls are tailored specifically to certain age groups. Included in these are the popular "Babicorolle", meant to be a girl's first doll, for newborns on up; "Mon Premier" for ages 18 months and over; "les Classiques" for ages 3 and up; "Miss Corolle" for 3 to 5 year olds and up; and finally potty training dolls where you can adopt either a boy or a girl to be your child's personal little bathroom pal. These are just a few examples of the lines of Corolle Dolls that are available, each with a unique French name.
Collectors of Corolle Dolls cite their quality and uniqueness (each individual doll has anywhere from 50 to 100 "by hand" operations that go into its creation) as reasons to invest in them as collectibles. Very few are in production at once, as it takes anywhere from 3 months to a year to create the mold of a new design. This is done in order to ensure that every minute detail is flawless.
The process includes making sure that the features of the dolls faces are proportionate, just like a real child's face, as well as the rest of the doll's body. Though the play dolls have hair that is made from patent-protected fiber material, which can be washed and styled just like human hair, the heads of their collectible dolls are covered with the same material used in creating human wigs.
To start your collection of Corolle Dolls is quite simple. You can, of course, check out the company's official website for more information and links, but there are many stores online that sell them as well. You are sure to find one that will catch your eye and fit your budget!
