New York Yankees Collectables

If you love the Yankees it’s likely you don't like the Boston Red Sox and some of the New York Yankees collectables you own may reflect that theme.

The Yankees have the strongest tradition in baseball. If you’re interested in history, the Yankees have it. What other team had players like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris and today’s Derek Jeter? New York Yankees collectables are fun and run the gamut from anti-Red Sox T-shirts to autographed bats, balls, bobbleheads and more.

A quick search on the Internet will find a number of sites dealing with New York Yankees merchandise. One site features a metal sign with the famous Yankee insignia for your recreation room, or a license plate proclaiming you’re the world’s number one Yankees fan. You can even get an interstate road sign featuring the team. Or how about a novel piece of New York Yankees merchandise; a square Yankees stepping stone for your lawn?

Of course there are lots of ball caps available as New York Yankees collectables, and a current hot item is a Derek Jeter 2006-07 wall calendar. A-Rod is not to be outdone, and Alex Rodriguez wall calendars are readily available. Flags, mugs, teddy bears, pendants, framed photos with plaques, blankets, aprons, banners, neckties, golf towels and divot tools, and much more is available if you want to stock up on New York Yankees merchandise.

If you are more of a traditional collector, you will likely be looking for baseballs, bats and other New York Yankees collectables highlighting a particular game or series. Of course, the more famous the event, the higher the price for the item if it is the one actually used on that day. Anything related to the Yankee legends, such as Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle and Maris will fetch a good price. But your New York Yankees collectibles don’t have to relate just to the Yankee legends.

Remember players like Don Larsen, who pitched a perfect game in the 1956 World Series? He wasn’t famous at that time, but many remember that game to this day. Back in those days he and other players were smoking in the dugout between innings. His World Series perfect game (no runs, no hits, and no walks) feat has never been equaled and any New York Yankees merchandise pertaining to Don Larsen will have value. His baseball career ended with a 81-91 won-lost record, but that one day, October 8, 1956 against the Brooklyn Dodgers, he was perfect.

If you’re just getting into collectibles the internet is a good place to start. You can find lots of sites for New York Yankees collectables and you will even be able to find other collectors online to share information.
